case 5 - part 4

Part 4 – Mahjong Knight

“Craack, craack” twigs snapped under our footsteps as we tracked upwards. It wasn’t long before we reached a clear space. Surrounded by all sorts of citrus fruit trees, Citrus Park is a nice place to relax during summer and autumn. Picnicking and flying kites are a nice way to pass the time with my kids here next time, I made a mental note. My dreams was interrupted by a cough.

“Ahem, what have we here? 2 little lambs walking straight to me?” Mahjong Knight chuckled in the darkness.
“We don’t have the whole night, come out and get your servings.” I barked.
“Hah, since you asked for it.” And he leaped out into the clearing.
“Eat this..” he whipped out a long whiplash, made of mahjong tiles stringed together.
“Its his famous technique, Mahjong Dragon (麻将神龙) , I’ll kicked the lights out of him.” Yvonne moved forward. Stopping before him, she stood on her left leg, with the right leg folded up 90 degrees, and her arms in guarding stance. This is the stance used for fighting seniors in martial arts, Golden Phoenix Salutes (金凤朝阳), to show our respect.
Even in the midst of it all, Yvonne still kept her patience as she faces her nemesis. A baby whirlwind began to blow, circling dried leaves around her, and blowing her hair about.
“Hieeyaa !” Mahjong Knight lashed out his deadly whip.
“Haah !” Yvonne unleashes her sure kill technique, Typhoon Kick (跆风暴踢), blocking the whip with her right leg, before leaping up and giving a flying side kick to the head of Mahjong Knight.
“Urgh…” Mahjong Knight was knocked back, and he struggled to get to his feet.
“Fool ! What are you looking at? Move !” she shot at me.

“On my way !” I answered, as I scrambled upwards in the darkness, leaving her to take care of things.

case 5 - part 3

Part 3 – Chess Rook

Lickem Hills is a beautiful park situated at the outskirts. The autumn leaves of bright hues looked mesmerizing under the full moon. We walked upwards, and reached Coughing Brook, when a shadowy figure sprang out.

“So, it’s a trap by you all, eh?” Chess Rook sneered.
“Yaaaa, and you want to surrender and save us the trouble, or prepared to get kicked !” Yvonne offered.
“Haha…don’t overestimate yourself, kids.” He laughed as he grabs something with both hands from his pockets.
“Be careful, its explosive chess pieces, seems like he’s preparing for his attack of Flying Chess (棋布满天).” Yvonne warned us.
“I’ll take care of him.” Eve said, as she stepped forward, and stood in the sparring L-stance, with right palm facing outwards, and left fists clenched, in the Fearless Fist (拳倾天下)position. A distance thunder rumbled, and a streak of lightning flashed and illuminated her determined face for a fleeting moment.
Chess Rook took half a step backwards, apparently scared, but took a deep breath, and threw out his chess pieces.
“Hah !” he shouted, as he started his attacks.
“Huh !” Eve exhaled, as she launched her Wind Snow Thunder Fist (风雪雷拳) counter attack.
“Boom ! Boom ! Boom !” the chess pieces exploded under the super punches of Eve, but she’s unharmed.
“Get going ! I’ll be fine !” she urged us to go on.

Deciding that she’s not in danger, and in upper hand, we moved up the hill, as a chill wind whipped out, and forced us to draw our coats tighter around.

case 5 - part 2

Hope eve wont complain she's a “kelefe” seulement (french : only) after this, hehe... :P

Part 2 – Message from Sifu

“When I first taught you Seven Lucklets ( 七小福) kung fu, it was with the intention that yer shall see the truth, and be of contribution to the society.” Sifu’s voice resonated across the hall.
“But four of you, Night Queen, Poker Bishop, Mahjong Knight and Chess Rook had let me down, and became a scourge instead.” He continued disappointedly.
“The time has come for me to instruct Whirlwind Kick (旋风腿), Lightning Fist (闪电拳) and Pongo Sticky (瘦长棍) to clean up the mess, partly created by me. Good luck.” “Click.” The voice message ended.

“Wow ! Mm Shi Je (Fifth Elder Sister, 五师姐), that means Luk Shi Je (Sixth Elder Sister, 六师姐) will be joining us too? Man, its been ages since I last met her !” I beamed with anticipation, while Yvonne just smiled.
“Ding dong.” The bell rang and made me jumped.
I quickly rushed to open the door, expecting to meet Sixth Elder Sister, but the door opened to a dark hair brunette, in a blue and green t-shirt of Princess Bank, and holding a cute Paddington bear . No, it cant be, my friendly banker Eve coming to collect bank interest at this hour ?
“Err…who are you looking for? Are you Miss Eve from Princess bank?” I asked.
“Hehe…yes, I’m Eve.” She giggled. “ And it seems we’ve not met for quite some time, about 14 years?”
“Huh? We’ve met before?” and my mind was filled with question marks.
“Wait…” some flicker of intelligence began to form. “Don’t tell me you are “Lightning Fist” Eve…” I uttered the most improbable thoughts aloud.
“Bingo ! Hehe…” she giggled again.
“Man ! Why didn’t you tell me earlier ! I could have used gathering as the excuse to meet you for lunch !” I grumbled, while “Whirlwind Kick” Yvonne laughed in the background.

As we sat down around, Yvonne outlined the plan of attack.
“I’ve tricked Black Don and his henchmen to meet us at Lickem Hills, and we’ll eliminate them there. There’s only 1 road up, and we’ll arrive after them, and mop them up from below upwards.” She concluded.

On the way to Lickem Hills, we assigned our attack roles.

Part 1 – Night visitor

The winds howled, and heavy rain pounded my windows. My roof creaked, and seemed as if it’s going to fly off any moment. I was busy looking for pails to put under all the leaking places, when the doorbell rang.

“Ding dong.”
“On the waaaaay…” I yelled over the roaring thunder and pattering rain.
The door opened to a visitor claded in knee length rain coat, wide brimmed hat and boots. One gloved hand was holding the coat together at the neck area, while another carried a waterproof briefcase. The face was masked in a scarf covering the nose and mouth. In the darkness, I can only make out the silhouette of dark rimmed glasses. I quickly let the visitor in, as it is rude to let anyone standing in the rain, be it an assassin or not. Furthermore, I’m confident of taking care of unwanted guests.

As the night visitor took down the hat, and unwound the scarf, I let out a cry of surprise.
“Countess Yvonne ! What are you doing here? Arent you supposed to be busy studying for your internship as a cardiac surgeon? And presenting all over the world?” I exclaimed.
Brushing her shoulder length hair, she smiled at me with her pink lips, and her eyes behind the black rimmed glasses twinkled with friendliness. Man, she looked exactly the same 18 years ago when I first met her at the martial arts training ground. Maybe she’s sucking and bathing on virgin boys blood in Translyvannia. And I sneezed.
“Slap !” she gave me a flying slapping kick to the face, and I staggered back a few steps. “Cacat !” she jested. “What dirty thoughts are you thinking again till you sneezed? Don’t think I don’t know your bad habits, sneezing during lewd thoughts ! And my intuition told me that you’ve been neglecting your kung fu practices while you surf the countless pornsites !” She feigned anger, and her big smile gave her away.
“Oh..sorry…was too surprised..”I lied a bit.”And the weather’s so cold ! Oh, so heartless of me, come, take a seat, I’ll make you some hot drink.” I quickly recovered, and hang up her coat.

“So, you haven’t told me what brought you here..” I asked again as I pass her the hot Olim, which she’s been taking that makes her strong and healthy, and which is my favourite drink too.
“Yaaaa….I wouldn’t be here if not for Sifu.” She said as she handed me her handphone.
“Sifu? How is he?” and I looked at her handphone.

case 4 - part 9 (end)

Part 9 – End

“Hands high up, and no tricks, else the boy gets it!” the voice shouted.
I held up my hands high, and emerged from my hiding place.

A stout man with a clown face was standing on top a container, pointing what seemed like a toy gun at me. His fake red nose looked ridiculous on his white face, and bright big red lips. I had to suppressed a laughter, and his oversized shoes and baggy shorts with straps didn’t help much either.

“You can laugh now, but mind you, Explosive Jack will have the last laugh ! Hiahahaha…” he laughed crazily again.
“Jack, where’s the kid? I’ll ask Black Don to spare you if you return the kid safely to me.” I bargained.
“I can take care of myself, haha….and as for the Jack in the box, good luck finding him before..Poof ! hahaha….”he laughed, jumped from the container, and disappeared from sight.

That clown ! I cursed and started to ran around the building, looking for a box. Puffing at top floor, I saw crates of wooden boxes. Which one?
No time liao ! my mind screamed, as I transferred energy to my fists and legs, and started to punch and kick the boxes open in record time.
“Crash ! Crash !” the boxes cracked open one by one, but lil Bruce is still nowhere to be seen.
“Hiiieeeyaaah !” I punched into one of the wooden boxes, and was rewarded with a muffled and tied up boy inside. It’s little Bruce !
Grabbing him, I ran and jumped off from the ledge, and did a sommersault, landing with a sprain on my ankle. Nothing more to ask for from a 3 storey jump.

Limping, I carried Bruce in my chest, and race towards some shelter.
“Ka Boooom !” the whole place went up in smokes, and the remnant explosive force pushed me forward, tripping me.
Shielding Bruce in my arms, I rolled on the ground a few times, before taking cover behind a barrel. Looking down at him, I was relieved to find his bright eyes staring innocently back.
“Its ok, kiddo, you’re safe now.” I patted his silky hair and comforted him.
“Wheew Oo, Wheew Oo”, the police sirens signaled the arrival of James and his men. Man, why do they always appear after all the actions? These potatoes are so inefficient !
“Why don’t you come later? And we can have tea together?” I shouted my curses to James over the din. “I gotta return the boy to his mother. Catch you all next time.” And I made my move, leaving them to clean up the mess.

Later that night, when I was rubbing ointment on my sprained ankle, the phone rang again.
“Congratulations, Mr. Sticky.” said the sweet voice. “For your information, we have taken Explosive Jack into “safe” custody.” “Click”.
Why do mafia boss doesn’t let me have a chance to talk back? If they want people to listen only, why cant they just email or sms me? Man !

Coming up next : Case #5 – Clean up, hehe... :D

case 4 - part 8

Part 8 – Clues

Reaching home, I got down to work. Putting the glove on the test table, under the microscope, I began to look for minute details.

The glove was stained with some grey particles, a bit of white caked up stuff, flakes of brown dust, and white crystalline powder. Further tests revealed them to be cement, paint, saw dust and salt respectively.

Using the internet, I looked for a place which is near a cement plant, a paint factory, a sawmill, and near the sea. It wasn’t long before I located an abandoned warehouse near the port. Most likely Explosive Jack is holing out there, and I gotta act fast if I want to rescue little Bruce safely.

Calling up Big Dog James to mobilized his police staff, I sped off to the warehouse, praying that I’m not too late.

Reaching the place, I found that the area is deserted. Getting down from my car noiselessly, I sneaked towards the warehouse, hiding from empty containers to containers, before snaking into the building itself.

“Quit playing games and show yourself, hahaha…” a voice calls out, and ended in hysterical laughter.
Heaving a sigh, I moved out to the open, expecting the worst.
